I like to paint a variety of subjects and moods because that is how life is.
I create art art out of emotion. I find it hard to start a painting if I’m not excited about the subject so I paint a subject that inspires me. I have a lot of variety in my work because there is so much excitement in life.
As far back as I can remember I always loved the outdoors and animals. I was always outside, usually with my dog. My father would take me hiking, horseback riding and we traveled. In school, one of my memories is in a pottery class, I would sculpt plump dragon looking animals and heads of people and the art teacher always scolded me because I was supposed to make cups and vases. In high school I did take an art class but I was mostly involved in music and sports. I attended SDSU and HSU and studied the natural sciences. I didn’t start painting until I was married and had two small children. A local art instructor gave art lessons so I took some for awhile and she encouraged me to keep on painting. Besides a few workshops and local lessons, I am a self taught artist. My family and I have traveled much of the USA, , Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador. Everywhere I go there is so much to see and paint. I recently started plein air painting so I try to take my paints with me when we travel. My husband and I have a small farm in beautiful Southern Oregon.
