Tide pool is a very large, hand thrown platter with a flowing mix of food safe glazes inspired by the ebb and flow of coastal tide pools found around the world. This piece is inscribed with both Ocean Park Pottery and HOLA to signify this was thrown and glazed in a teaching studio shared with the children of Los Angeles who attend the non-profit afterschool program, Heart of Los Angeles Youth. This platter comes with a custom made and hand painted matching hanger
I am a native Southern California artist inspired by the beauty of nature. I have gained an appreciation for the beauty in nature from living in the Santa Monica Mountains, from extensive travel as a tutor, a sailor and through personal excursions. I have been teaching and working in ceramics for over 20 years. I currently run the ceramics department at a non- profit after school program in the heart of Los Angeles. My work has been displayed in the Hale Arts gallery, Santa Monica, Babakul clothing stores in Malibu, Fashion Island Newport Beach and Fred Segal, Santa Monica. Online, my work was featured in the Artisanal section of One King's Lane. Most recently I have completed a commission for the international designer Tom Ford to create custom bonsai pots for his personal bonsai collection as well as for his bonsai master, Roy Nagatoshi. I continue to work from my private studio in Santa Monica and with the children of Heart of Los Angeles Youth.
