I love exploring the formal qualities of paint; texture, brush stroke, drips, paint splatters, and such. This painting was created after an inspirational run downtown Charleston. There are surprisingly little graffiti marks around many places downtown. I picked a warm color palette of umber, gold, orange, crimson red, and some pops of magenta pink with the cooler black and white to balance the brightness. Its a very cool contemporary piece that would be great in a modern or industrial space.

Born in California, but now happily settled on the east coast, Morgan graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Clemson University in 2013. While at Clemson she studied painting and business management. With an executive retail management internship at Nordstrom and a visual display internship at Anthropologie, Morgan finds inspiration in fashion; specifically textures, patterns, and layers, which are evident in her work. The formal qualities of paint are important to her style and can be seen in her range of paintings whether they are colorful abstracts, futuristic fantasies, low country landscapes, or flower collages. She paints out of her studio space downtown Charleston at Redux Contemporary Art Center. Follower her on Instagram @morgancoleart to stay up to date with the latest works.
