This silkscreen piece was created as part of a series based on a California road trip. It focuses on the sensation of a road trip, the blur of scenery passing by and the narrative aspect of the landscapes flipping past like a film reel. The images I chose resonate with me because of the constant pull I feel towards creating work with my own hands as opposed to serving a machine. During this time of highly mechanized photographic processes, my work focuses on the handmade process of representation. The method of inking and printing by hand breaks down the perfection of the machine; the uneven ink and imperfect registration render my landscape evident of the process. I am also interested in the idea of escaping the city through road trips and experiences that are less reliant on all modern technology. I choose to work with this process because it allows me to engage in these moments I observed on the road through hands-on creative work.

Born in Vermont and now living on the west coast. I enjoy road tripping from Seattle to Los Angeles. I am a photographer and designer, and my prints are all based of photographs I take throughout my explorations.
