This reduction linocut piece was created from a photograph taken at LAX. The images I chose resonate with me because of the constant pull I feel towards creating work with my own hands as opposed to serving a machine. The reduction linocut process involves gauging into a block of linoleum, inking the block and then printing the relief on paper. After printing one color, the process is repeated on the same block, thus destroying the block as one prints and rendering it impossible to create any more than the initial edition of prints. I choose to work with this process because it allows me to engage in these moments I observe through hands-on creative work.
Born in Vermont and now living on the west coast. I enjoy road tripping from Seattle to Los Angeles. I am a photographer and designer, and my prints are all based of photographs I take throughout my explorations.
