Live your life with love & passion and learn your lessons well!
I have been creating art and telling stories since I was a toddler. Over the years I have been able to create a small collection of works and, in the last few years, have begun sharing my work with the world. I spend a little time each day drawing or writing something. Every now and again though, a spark of inspiration will ignite a flame of passion and I will spend hours upon hours in order to bring that inspiration to life.
A lot of my inspiration comes from nature. I am entranced by the complex beauty of the natural world. Things are balanced in nature. It has a chaotic serenity, a dangerous goodness. I try to capture that precarious balance in my work, especially in my Flower Series.
Some of my inspiration comes from the darker parts of nature that exist within us as human beings. I am fascinated by the human capacity for darkness and our unending struggle to pursue means of fighting off that darkness that is a part of us. This preoccupation with the human psyche is reflected in the pieces in my Spook Series.
Any inspirations that don't originate from one of those two tracks, come strictly from imagination. My imagination which is inhabited by every fantasy creature and monster known to man through story and tale, plus some that no one else has brought to the page before. Often, my art work is birthed through my writing endeavors. As I write, I create pictures to accompany the story. Some of those pictures gain a life of their own and grow into pieces independent of the story from which they originated, while others become part of a collection that will one day be introduced to the world as a part of the story which inspired them.
I am the Mirasu Actors Studio and 1024 Illustrations. I also enjoy working for the Wharton Center for Performing Arts in East Lansing as a teaching artist for Disney Musicals in Schools and an adjudicator for the Sutton Foster Ovation Awards. I regularly volunteers for local community theatres as an actor, director, makeup artist, props gatherer and concessions peddler. I have proudly served on boards and committees for several community theatres and arts organizations as well as the PTO at my daughter’s school. My greatest accomplishment, however, is raising two amazing children to whom I am hopelessly devoted and of whom I am endlessly proud!
