If you had told me when I was a kid that I would be capturing people's beloved family member pets using my art, I would have a laughed.
When I was around seven years old, a neighborhood child encouraged me to pet dog that was loose on our street. She was under the impression that this dog belonged to a fellow neighbor of ours. Unfortunately, it turned out to not be that dog, but a stray, who clamped down his teeth on my little hand. I still have the scars. So, needless to say, I became afraid of dogs.
Thankfully, years later my family adopted a scrappy little mix breed, named Barney. And my fear slowly faded away. In it's place grew a love for "mans best friend". Today, I have two dogs of my own, Biscuit (a Golden mix) and Cooper (a Chihuahua mix). They are forever by my side.
And I love all dogs, but there's something about the scrappy nature of the French Bulldog that entices me and elicits joy. That's where this painting was born. Fun. Playful. Bright-eyed. I hope it brings you joy as well.
