The creation of art is like writing my innermost feelings and emotions in a journal, except I am using paint and a canvas to translate those thoughts. I favor abstract because I love that art can be interpreted differently and it allows me to think outside the box and express myself freely. I can be a a very private person at times... but the canvas tells it all.
I paint large acrylic paintings in an abstract expressionistic style. As a self-taught artist, I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. As far back as I can remember, I demonstrated a love for art, experimenting as a young child with clay and watercolors, eventually settling on acrylic as my medium of choice. My work is heavily textured as I favor a strong impasto technique to help my paintings come to life. I find the painting process mysterious as I tend to get lost in the rich colors, using them to evoke emotions in the work of art. I enjoy using various acrylic mediums and gels to create surfaces that are rich in texture. The complete cycle of creating for me is a process of releasing to share, so that others may interpret the work as they choose. My paintings are the products of much contemplation, drawing on emotions that are then transferred on to the blank canvas to form a work of art that is direct interpretation of my inward temperament.
