In my work, capturing the perfect moment and the intensity of the athlete is of the utmost importance. I focus on creating highly energized work by using bright colors to captivate the viewer, drawing them into the human aspect of a moment in time. Having created a unique painting process using a variety of techniques and mediums such as acrylic, oil and spray paint, I am able to tell the visual story of an athlete's emotional experience.
Michael Petty IV is a talented visual artist whose artwork is quickly picking up traction in the sports industry. Mike’s vibrant paintings, created with unconventional uses of oil, acrylic and spray paints on canvas and wood, capture the excitement of sports scenes uncommon to what is currently in the art community. Growing up in Michigan and Virginia, Michael's early life was concentrated in athletics. A competitive athlete and lifelong sports enthusiast, his visual sense of the athletic experience was being subliminally developed. When pursuing his Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art at Virginia Tech, Michael discovered his talent for painting. The alchemy of these two passions is seen his special and gifted art. In addition to lending his unique vision and style to athletics, Michael is able to convey the emotion and passion of humanity through painting any athlete, entertainer or public figure. He has recently completed private commission works of Madonna, Prince and Bo Jackson.
