Inspired by the rich culture of San Francisco. The greys of it's concrete and stone architecture. The colorful hues of it's Victorians and vibrancy of it's neighborhoods. The greens of it's parks...the white clouds that roll in daily...and it's iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Together this is my home San Francisco.
Michael J Reeder is an emerging modern abstract artist. He is known for his vibrant but simple abstract pieces and his unique simple perspective. The common square theme in his pieces is inspired by his idea that "we must look inside the box to be able to think & live outside of it!" Michael left his corporate fashion career for his true passion- art! He is inspired by the texture, color, and richness of nature, daily life, his Cherokee Heritage and questions our society faces today....diversity, equality, disease. He is a a self taught artist. Michael was born in Ganado, Arizona on the Navajo Indian Reservation to parents while serving in the Peace Corps. He grew up in Nogales in southern Arizona, a small town on the Mexico/American border. Michael graduated from the University of Arizona and started his corporate fashion career in San Francisco for companies including esprit de corp, the Gap, and Levi's. He is now living in sunny San Diego where he has taken a holistic approach to being happy and hopeful...a term he calls simply H&H. Art has a meditative quality to him and hopes you are inspired and find the beauty he finds in the simple things we all encounter daily.
