I lived in Austin, TX for two years and cacti and succulents surrounded me everywhere I looked. They are one of the few plants that can survive the dry climate in the Texas Hill Country. I have become fascinated with the different textures, shapes, and colors of these kinds of plants. I am studying them in an intimate way through the process of painting them. This piece is part of an ongoing plant inspired series.

I am a Houston, TX based artist. My paintings revolve around themes of the mind and body, plants/nature, and expressive abstraction. I am always trying out new mediums but I mostly use oil paint, watercolors, gouache, and alcohol ink. I received my Bachelors degrees in both Painting and Photography in May 2010, and I completed my Masters in Painting at the San Francisco Art Institute in May 2012. Creating is a necessity for me, and I don't know who I would be without it. I crave that artistic release. I love connecting with people through my art, because each piece I create is a little part of me. I hope you like what you see, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out!
