After the Levee Breaks - an abstract watercolor painting by Melanie Harman. Painted on Yupo - a synthetic paper, this was an experimental piece to see how my paints would react when manipulated on this support. Neutral color mixes were laid down and then texture was developed by various techniques. The painting was allowed to dry and then revisited to enhance certain features.
This painting reminds me of old buildings and gardens underwater, hence the title. The interesting mix of secondary and tertiary colors will suit many types of interior design schemes.
My name is Melanie Harman. I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. Painting allows me to pause and reflect on my journey through life. I am able to better appreciate the colors and beauty of the natural world and connect with it on a deeper level. Watercolor is my choice of medium; the wet-in-wet interaction of colors is fascinating and stimulating in all of its permutations. I am originally from England and moved to Phoenix in 1987 and have since become a US citizen. I live in a split-level house with my husband and two cats. We are active and like to ski, hike and backpack.
