This piece was inspired by a book I have on Film Noir. It was created on Canson watercolor paper with india ink, marker and watercolor.
I'm an artist and art teacher living in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I've been making art for as long as I can remember. I have memories of sitting at the kitchen table as a kid, with my box of Crayola crayons, drawing for hours. Not much has changed since then. I can still sit at my drawing desk and lose myself for hours in a drawing or a painting. I've always been drawn to an illustrative style of drawing and painting, which I think is evident in my artwork. I create my art in a variety of mediums, graphite, watercolor and colored pencil are some of my favorites. I've never been able to limit myself to just one subject matter, so my pieces range from neo-traditional tattoo illustrations, to funny sea creatures and portraiture. My artwork doesn't necessarily hold a deeper meaning behind what you see on the canvas. For me, art doesn't have to be a secret or hold a hidden message. Sometimes it can be exactly what it appears to be, a beautiful image meant to be enjoyed.
