This is from a series of collages addressing what lies beneath the surface and is reflected through the use of fashion models. They are perfect examples of concealment or masking. Portrayed as the ideal, they are meant to be reflections of ourselves through current trends. What are the inner emotions, fears, dreams that we conceal? Their use as "our" stand-ins allows us to imbue and reflect upon our inner selves.
Bits of paper, seemingly opposite images will be placed in close proximity and come together in joyous harmony. Sometimes opposites do attract to create some wildly interesting and provocative art objects. Artists that inspire my collages the most are the Dadaists Baroness Elsa von Freitag-Loringhoven and Hannah Hoch.
