Heartful, minimalist, contemporary.
Perhaps it's the comic book artist in me, but I find I like to experiment with minimal brush stroke and line until the right emotion emerges. The beauty in the white space. The wonder in the thoughts between the marks.
Often I let the inks (which I use a lot) work for themselves and do what they will. So there is a happier, looser feel to the creation.
This way of working just came about naturally on it's own from exploring a lot of pen and ink drawing and ink washes. I prefer painting with India ink, using an assortment of Japanese paintbrushes and dip pen, on bristol vellum or watercolor paper.
I'm originally from England, went to art school in Minneapolis (MCAD), and now live and work as a designer, writer and illustrator in San Francisco. In recent years I've published two graphic novels, 'Beautiful' and 'Sky Orb', and am working on my third. Both are available on Amazon. Please visit mariedabreofor more about me.
