Inspired by street art and composed of organic materials, Math-You’s work portrays a sense of movement with the use of textiles, stains and hand painting. His technique is figurative, employing negative space to graphically represent the bare-bones most necessary lines of the face to capture the essence of an individual. His unique color palette utilizes a spectrum of tones that compliment one another for a sensual effect. Sources for Math-You’s work include the fashion and beauty industry, pop art in the vein of Andy Warhol, Robert Raucshenberg and Roy Lichtenstein, contemporary street art from Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Le Rat and many other graffiti artists as well as Abstract Expressionists such as Frank Stella, Pat Steir, Joan Mitchell and Robert Motherwell.

Hostile Beauty is a new series of paintings that capture subjects in various states of emotional turmoil by use of aggressive materials such as coffee, beet juice, make-up and ashes.
