Ready to Hang
This piece is more muted than my other ones, and a slightly more structured style, with the clearly delineated sections that I built up in layers underneath where dried paint created the vertical lines. Then there's texture on the horizontal where more dried paint created some striations as I scraped through it. Then, there's the criss crosses where I scraped back through all the layers. I also used a combination of materials that usually don't fit together, including a soft mop brush and the large scrapers I use on my other pieces. This is one of my favorite pieces actually. I see it hanging in a beach house, or a room with other calming elements. It reminds me of fog rolling in across the water.
I'm a San Francisco, CA based artist and typically focus on doing large scale abstract art. I've been fortunate to have had a number of shows in the past year, including one at Sotheby's, and I'm very happy to be supporting my friend Ethan from UVA as he launches this great company, which fulfills a definite need in the marketplace for artists.
