Autism Equals Special Skills is the title. This art is dedicated to those who are autistic. I want to encourage them to never give up struggling against the hard parts and be sure to know that your life will get better and you will be happy someday even if you don't feel it yet. You have special skills and talents that many other people do not. This world needs you and all that makes you-you. You are here to help the rest of us. God put you here for a reason. You are loved by many!
This piece is a combination of free form and figure art. Using mixed media, I am able to accomplish the desired effect using 100 lb, acid free, Bristol art paper.
I usually sell prints but for the first time, I am now offering the original for purchase. Includes certificate of authenticity.
I enjoy peoples’ reactions to my art. Some are at first intrigued and then find themselves involved in the art; they see familiar shapes that at times, no one else finds.
My hope is that this positive art which God has blessed me with will serve to bring beauty, distraction, joy, and an uplifted spirit to those who look and see that through color and shapes (some familiar, some random) tied harmoniously together, the art speaks to us individually.
Thank you for visiting my portfolio.
My name is Mary Sperling. I grew up in a household where my mother did oil paintings and when I expressed interest, she provided me with canvas and paints. I am self-taught and as a child, looked up to my uncle who is also an artist. Enduring an illness like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia for more than a decade is rough but there are also some good things I'm not sure I would have experienced otherwise. Maybe for me it took a weakened body to experience the heightened intensity I now do by certain colors, shapes, and sounds. I love color and the way it makes me feel. A few years ago, I remember certain colors coming alive to me. They drew my attention and gave me pleasure to look at. I started experimenting with them. As of late, I've started a new type of art using mixed media. I haven't seen this art style anywhere else and just enjoy expressing myself with bright color and contrasting dark lines.
