This pieces was my first plein air trip out to the Arboretum. I often go out with other painters to a variety of beautiful and intriguing locations. This was one of the early trips out and it was a fine spring day. I painted two pieces this trip but the first was destroyed accidentally before we even left the park.
I worked for nearly a decade in acrylic paints. my studio was bedrooms, backrooms, and gargages. My inspiration was the memories of the world through my perception, I worked largely from my imagination. Then I began studying and copying the old masters and realized my technical skills lacked. I apprenticed in the classical atelier for many years with Juliette Aristides. Today I work predominately in oils and develop my imaginative visions with a sophisticated representational style.
Martijn Caspar Swart is an artist in love with painting and with a particular interest in emotion and aesthetics. Desiring the embrace of technically sophisticated and beautiful art. He has an eye for complexities in color relationships and aspires to convey a milestone in character or a story or a subject in composition. With a heart to capture elements of wonder, at a certain stage of a life, in the dance from birth to death in every piece. A Dutch man, grown in Montana, and trained in Seattle, now mad with inspiration. MCSwart.com
