Ready to Hang
This piece was inspired by a picture of bright red seaweed caught in a receding wave, being taken back into the ocean. I work with abstract forms that are inspired by the movement of water in New England. With varying textures and details found in my paintings, you will always find a new facet to explore within this piece.
Connecticut artist, teacher and paint lover. (marisalewon.net) BFA from the University of Connecticut, previous studies at Tufts University and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. I am a passionate, easy-going artist. I hope to own a tiny house by the beach with a big fluffy dog to come home to. To make a living off of my art is the dream, and I am just stubborn enough to achieve it. Working in art education and management for the last year, I have learned a significant amount about the art world and what it takes to be an artist. I have become inspired to rediscover my own passion for making art. I have stripped down my process and have been focusing on my favorite material, paint. I also work in installation, video and performance.
