My paintings are the result of experimentation with color, shape and texture. I paint on rice paper, paying particular attention to patterns of light and dark. The painting is then covered with paraffin wax. After the wax is dry, the work is crumpled and more color is added. This process allows the paint to seep into the cracks after more paraffin is applied. The wax is then removed. The result is a boldly colorful, beautifully textured painting. Because some of the wax remains in the paper, the works are durable, somewhat like fabric. The paintings have a distressed, vintage-like feel.

SOLD Artwork. I met the customer at an art auction.

I am a self taught artist living on an island in Washington state. I have always found creativity to be rewarding. After my retirement from nursing five years ago, painting became an essential part of my life. Since that time, I have focused on painting using the watercolor batik process.
