Fear is something that every human being experiences at one point or another. It is complex, and there are several different kinds. Dread. Fear of the unknown. Fear of the thing you know but are trying desperately to un-know. Fear for someone else. Helplessness. We all have our own, unique fears. This painting represents that feeling that settles in your stomach when you encounter something that scares you. It represents the raised heart rate, the sudden bloom of heat or cold across your body, the shaky, quick breaths. It represents fear in general, in a personified way.
I'm a painting major at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, minoring in illustration. Growing up as a kid, I've always had a strong adoration for art and the process of creating it. It wasn't until halfway through my freshman year of high school that I really found myself getting into it, and wanting to make a career out of it. It hasn't been long, but since then I have dabbled in multiple different mediums, some that I hadn't even heard of as a kid, and found that, although it's fun to use different mediums, my heart lies with paint, specifically oil and acrylic.
