I created this piece to represent a classic low country landscape.
My inspiration in creating this piece was to capture the light on the marsh both on the water and the grasses. Painting large areas of grass and reeds can be a challenge, I try to paint just enough detail without making it static.
This was a overcast day which makes it perfect conditions to get those great reflections in the water!
My name is Lorraine Dauphin. I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. Lorraine (Lori) Dauphin moved to Myrtle Beach from Connecticut with her husband Roland, eight years ago. Lori has been drawing and painting from nature since childhood. She earned an Associate’s Degree graphic design/illustration at the Art Institute of Boston and spent several years as assistant Art Director for a major corporation. A successful freelance designer and illustrator since 1994, Lori has integrated her pastel drawings into several design projects, and has appeared in The Directory of Illustration. Her pastels and oils also hang in businesses, private homes and small galleries throughout the Northeast and South Carolina. Lori's submission for MB 2010 Food and Wine week poster competition, took third place. In addition to landscapes, Lori is also becoming known for her portraiture and pet portraits. In addition to exhibiting at Seacoast Gallery at the Market Common, Lori is a member of the Seacoast Artists Guild. Lorraine's painting Family Portrait:1944 was selected for the 2016 "ARTFIELDS" Exhibition in Lake City SC. only 372 pieces of artwork were selected for this prestigious 9 day exhibition out of 2000 entrants from 9 Southern States.
