"There was a 1930's photograph of a woman with a painted face and fan staring blankly to the side, with sad eyes and a small smile. The photograph has stuck with me over the years and before I knew it, she was manifesting here in a mask. I like to think she tossed aside the masked face and fancy-lady things to live a life in celebration of herself and being alive. Of course, I realize too, it's probably my own ideas projecting and so she is not in this image at all. I kept this painting simple and classic, with only blue, black, red, and white as the primary colors, the splash of purple and green I just couldn't resist. I hope this painting speaks to someone as the photograph spoke to me, even if it's in a different way. Her gallery-wrapped edges are the same blue tones as the background." -M.E.
"Aloha! My name is Mandy Elliott and I'm a self-taught Vango Artist originally from the Space Coast of Florida and now residing in the heart of Virginia. Creating isn't just a passion for me, it's a part of me. It started as an escape from a troubled home, and it became my heart beat so, I prefer to let my works of art speak for me. If you have questions about me, or my methods of creating, feel free to message me and ask! Thank you for your interest!
