"'Four Pieces of 8' is about seeing things not just for what they are, but for what they are in relation to the other things around them. Using 8 in the title is intentional, because it is also meant to imply 'Four Pieces of Infinity.' The background was finger-painted with orange, cool blue, admiral blue, yellow, deep green, and brown- even though it can be dark enough to look black in some lighting. The background is a semi-gloss acrylic, while the butterflies, shadows, and slashes are painted in matte. Lighting will affect the way the colors look, and there is no actual damage to the canvas, it is a painted illusion." -M.E.
"Aloha! My name is Mandy Elliott and I'm a self-taught Vango Artist originally from the Space Coast of Florida and now residing in the Heart of Virginia. Creating isn't just a passion for me, it's a part of me. I come from a background of artists, musicians, mechanics, engineers, and carpenters. One thing we all have in common is an ability to imagine something and then make it real. Some of us also share the ability to understand what others imagine and make that real. We are inventors and innovators. It's those skills which got me through a troubled home we called "Hells Gate", and gave me success in the corporate world from Sales to Escalations Management. None of that fulfilled me though, and I had to ask myself why I limiting myself when I could unleash myself into something I love? Art. I'd been creating and selling my Art since 1998, but in 2010 I dove in to the part of me that creates from the inside and found my preferred medium is paint. I've showcased in Melbourne Florida, Orlando Florida, Historic Kissimmee Florida, Cincinnati Ohio, and since September 2016 I have Artwork in an Earth Art collection in Space, courtesy of NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission to the asteroid Bennu. #WeTheExplorers ... I watched NASA launch shuttles from the Cape, viewed from my back yard as a kid, and now I have Art in Space. I'd say my life is complete but... creating Art isn't something I can just turn off anymore. I am a Painter." -M.E. ______________________ _______________________ [[ All artworks protectively sealed, ready to hang, professionally shipped with a certificate of authenticity (CoA), Artist Pamphlet, "Talking About Art is Hard..." greeting card to give insight and talking points about your specific painting(s), and a hand written note from the Artist.
