This painting is my tribute to the beautiful and handsome Harambe, the gorilla at the Cincinnati zoo that was shot and killed while meeting a new little boy that jumped into his enclosure.
I have had a lifelong passion for all apes (especially gorillas) and when this tragic situation happened I was completely devastated.
My family and I have been steadfast supporters of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund for over 10 years so this incident upset our family so much.
We felt so helpless.
After a few sleepless nights I awoke one morning and knew I couldn't stop this painting that was bursting out of me.
It truly comes from my heart.
You are not forgotten.
My name is Lisa Fasulo. I have been a lifelong painter, making it my career since I was 13 years old. I went on to earn a BA degree in Art from SUNY Cortland in New York. I studied painting and art history in Siena, Italy in the early 80's. After a long career in hand painted clothing, I became a tattoo artist (I even had my own TV show!). After 15 crazy and zany years in the tattoo biz I longed to get back to painting. So here I am! Thank you for visiting my portfolio.
