Ready to Hang
Curator's Note: I love the vintage feel here, from the sign itself to the actual activity it suggests.
The reason I chose the title for this piece is because I'm fascinated by neon signs.
I created this piece after viewing it while driving on Broadway near Pike on Capitol Hill in Seattle.
My inspiration in creating this piece was simply to see it and want to preserve on canvas some part of americana that sometimes disappears to soon.
This painting is wired and ready to hang. No need for a frame since I painted the sides as well for a finished look.
I truly love to paint because it feeds my soul. Self taught, and feeling little restraint, I paint in various styles, from my own perspective. The accuracy of my paintings originates from years of working on scale models. I prefer to paint in acrylic for certain subjects but do like the feel of oil and canvas. Currently I live and paint in Ballard, a young, hip district of Seattle Washington. A lot of revitalization has happened in the last decade. I find it easy to tap into the energy.
