Art is not like medicine, or science, or the law … no periodic table of elements, no mathematical procedures, no legal precedents … in art, rules exist to be broken … art invites the ephemeral, the subjective, the idiosyncratic … art celebrates innovation.
With my art I create imaginary lands and people. I work on a number of series at the same time. Each one frees my mind to concentrate on the other. Then I switch from landscape to depicting illusive people conjured up in my mind. I have a series called VIRGIN FOREST which consists of 16 oil-on-canvas triptychs 40”x48”. There are four for each season of the year … they represent an untouched land not spoiled by humans. A sacred place we hope to preserve.
Another series is called EARTHKINS, People of the World. They smile but their souls are locked away. I aim to show the deep hopefulness lies within the hearts of people everywhere. lindalouisart.com
