I am inspired to paint because I love to capture beauty as I see it. I'm thrilled to see how light falls across an object or illuminates a simple scene from nature into the extraordinary. I always loved drawing and painting in oils but when I discovered pastels I felt I found the perfect medium for me. The immediacy of the medium and the rich buttery quality of soft pastels is extremely satisfying to me. After 20 years of working in pastels I wanted to work in a "cleaner" medium so I started painting with acrylics. The focus of my work now is nature and specifically cows. I feel a strong connection to these gentle beauties and want them to live on in my paintings.
