I paint to remember - how the light is on a certain day, how lavender the shadows are on the snow, how soft the colors are at dusk. I try to capture what I am seeing and feeling. I like to paint loosely with a large brush using the accidents, transparency and freshness of the watercolor medium itself.
I saw this after a days skiing at Labrador Mountain.
My name is Linda Abbey. I am a VANGO artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I grew up in Illinois and went to college in Indiana. In 1966 I lived in Bizerte, Tunisia for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer teaching English as a foreign language, and then in Italy for six months, teaching English to the marina militare in Taranto. I returned to the US, married, and lived in Princeton, New Jersey for five years, teaching 4th grade, I then moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, taught Title I and learned how to draw and paint watercolor at age 34. In 1990 I moved to Syracuse, New York for 25 years, painting and teaching watercolor. This year, 2016, we retired back in Charlottesville Virginia and I am still painting! I have also lived in Florence Italy two and a half years, and Switzerland, one year. I speak English, and can get by in French and Italian.
