Laurie Maves is a long time admirer of Italian Modern artist, Amedeo Modigliani. The abstractions of facial features & elongated necks are prevalent in her figurative works. This series on allows Maves to explore Modigliani's classic figures, while adding her own contemporary touches.

Recently relocating from the Rocky Mountain state of Colorado, to the turquoise waters & neon colors of South Florida, a major & significant change in the artist's residential point of view has been systematically documented in this ongoing series simply called "Migration," these can also be seen on Vango

Laurie Maves (Guglielmi) has always been an artist. She spent her childhood with her family in Freeport, Illinois, along with her larger-than-life imagination, always creating her own reality (often to the chagrin of her small town midwestern parents). There was nothing more she wanted to do, than to make something out of nothing. And if she could make something beautiful, she saw herself as a superhero. While living in Denver, Colorado in the late 1990's, Laurie took a leap of faith and gradually transitioned from her profession in the non profit sector as an art therapist to that of a full time fine artist and live performance painter. She opened a painting studio and began painting live at concerts and music performances, which eventually led to her painting live at Red Rocks Amphitheater in 2007 in front of an audience of 10,000 viewers. She quickly gained clients and commissions and began developing her small business. Twenty years and 10,000 hours of working her craft later, largely a self-taught artist, Laurie has enjoyed all aspects of owning her own business as a creative. In 2017, Laurie and her husband Ralph Guglielmi relocated to Sarasota, Florida. There she has joined a powerhouse team of creative Shannon S. Warren and sculptor Jeff Hostetler. Together they currently make up Art Factory 44, an innovative art studio where original artwork and print design are combined in the most fascinating ways. You have to come see it for yourself!
