Detail study of Van Gogh's original work. Oil on canvas, completely dry. This work will require a frame.
I have loved water for as long as I can remember. I think of water as my mother. I have been a swimmer for many years, and have sought to capture the interaction of light on the surface of water, and light as it moves through water. I especially love the grid patterns warped and shaped by waves passing through water. I have studied traditional glazing techniques used by VerMeer, and VanEyck, two major influences on my work. I also love the works of Bosch, and have incorporated some of his rebus style icons to parody human follies, with a Southern California update. In a separate body of work, I make paper mosaics, from ink and wax on selected pages from books such as The Laws of War, or, A Critique of Pure Reason, and fashion them into intricate conceptual statements. Japanese artworks also influence my style, especially the ink paintings of Soga Shohaku. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about my works. Thanks for looking.
