Ready to Hang
I start in a few different ways, sometimes by laying down heavy texture, but it is usually always followed by blocking out large swatches of colors. It may sit that way for several weeks before I move to the next step. I have a tendency to binge paint. I may not paint for a couple of days or sometimes weeks and then when the paint begins to flow, I can go into the studio at dawn and leave hours later.
My name is Laurie Aurand and I currently live in Fort Worth Texas. I grew up in rural Ohio and started selling my art in my elementary years. I created still lives with oil pastels and my mom sold them to people at her workplace. I was able to take some great classes at the art center in a nearby city. After high school I moved to Florida and unfortunately my art got set aside for a long time. A couple of years ago, I moved to Texas where I knew nobody. In an effort to fill my time, I took a couple of mixed media classes and then started painting almost every day. I have never looked back. I see color everywhere and that is evident with the bold colors that I use in my artwork. I am drawn to make art that will draw you in and and just make you happy to look at it on your wall. I like to work square so that you have the ability to hang the painting in the way it speaks most to you.
