Ready to Hang
Curator's Note: This multi-dimensional piece engages the viewer with color, depth, and physicality. By utilizing the unique aesthetics of acrylic, copper wire, modeling paste, and wood, the artist is able to bring a flat plane to life.
This piece is painted on a cradled birch painting panel. I read that outer space and geometric shapes are projected to be trending in 2015. So, I took that as an artistic challenge and platform for inspiration. I really just had fun with this one. I played with color mixing, texture, geometric lines/shapes, and power tools! Painting is dated, signed on the back and side, and sprayed with a UV Archival gloss coating. It is also wired, sides are painted, and ready to hang as soon as it arrives at your home. Does not need to be framed.
I grew up in the bustling city of Las Vegas, NV. I graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design at Auburn University. While I was in school, I took many fine art courses such as ceramics, sculpture, painting, and a variety of drawing courses. I was also fortunate enough to be a part of a design group that had the chance to create concept work for the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. I'm a sculptor, painter, and illustrator. Over my course of 4 years at Auburn University, I've had 7 pieces exhibited in student shows. I've also had 2 sculptural pieces exhibited at The Arts Association of East Alabama, 3 pieces exhibited at a Dothan, Alabama gallery, and 4 pieces exhibited at a local Decatur, Alabama gallery. Art is my freedom. Each new work is like a new adventure into the unknown. I love to incorporate sculptural 3D elements in all of my paintings and experimenting with different mediums.
