Ready to Hang
For this piece I took a vintage fairytale book. I used the inner pages to create a collage background texture. I also used pieces from the illustrations in the book to create a 'castle-like' structure. This is an abstracted painting of classic fairy tales. It represents the usual plot between good, evil, and the final vanquishing happy ending. I used opaque flake texture gel to bring more depth to the piece and charcoal for rich contrast. An archival, UV resistant, protective, fine art, gloss varnish has been applied to protect the surface of the painting. Painting is dated and signed on the back. Sides are painted. It is also wired and ready to hang as soon as it arrives at your home and does not need to be framed.
I grew up in the bustling city of Las Vegas, NV. I graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design at Auburn University. While I was in school, I took many fine art courses such as ceramics, sculpture, painting, and a variety of drawing courses. I was also fortunate enough to be a part of a design group that had the chance to create concept work for the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. I'm a sculptor, painter, and illustrator. Over my course of 4 years at Auburn University, I've had 7 pieces exhibited in student shows. I've also had 2 sculptural pieces exhibited at The Arts Association of East Alabama, 3 pieces exhibited at a Dothan, Alabama gallery, and 4 pieces exhibited at a local Decatur, Alabama gallery. Art is my freedom. Each new work is like a new adventure into the unknown. I love to incorporate sculptural 3D elements in all of my paintings and experimenting with different mediums.
