The image in this painting was sourced from an old black and white photo that I bought at a flea market. It depicts two women in vintage bathing suits posing for a photograph. They are in a lake or ocean surrounded by water with various other people off in the distance. Looking at this painting is like traveling back in time. I was attracted to this photo because of how it captured a moment of joy in in these women's lives as well as the composition of the photograph. It was a joy to paint- the water, the vintage fashion, and all of the different people at varying distances from the foreground make for a really satisfying image. The painting has a simple, thin wooden frame painted black around its edge.
