The source of this painting is an old black and white photograph of my father as a small child with a shadow looming in the foreground. For this piece I removed all of the scenery other than the figure of the child and the shadow, highlighting the seemingly menacing relationship between photographer and subject. The style of this oil painting is very unique. The face reads almost as a print and the figure and shadow are depicted in a blur.
