^^^^^^^^^^^I create art because I love color, pattern, textures. I prefer abstracts over realism and I like to combine colors based on what I see in nature, the landscape and various feelings they convey.

My process is varied -- I either work on my textured and linear abstract landscapes when I'm feeling more controlled or throw caution to the wind and work on a very uncontrolled abstract that uses color to bring forth an expressive feeling.

Living in the desert SW, I often use the glorious sunsets we get to inspire me, but sometimes my inspiration comes from a great jazz tune that's playing on Pandora or a good old movie on TCM I like to listen to in the background when I paint. I just go where the sound and paint takes me and, if I'm lucky, Bette Davis or Cary Grant.

KR Moehr is an artist in Tucson, AZ. Originally from Michigan, I spent many happy hours roaming through the Detroit Institute of Art (DIA) and marveling at masterpieces and developing a true love for art. I eventually earned a B.A. in Communications and worked in marketing/communications for automotive suppliers in suburban Detroit. Eventually, I moved west to rainy/quirky Portland, OR and lived there for several years during which I first picked up a paintbrush to record a particularly lovely watercolor sunset. It was awful; I was hooked. My life journey took me to my current home in sunny Arizona where I love to try to capture some of the natural desert beauty and amazing sky shows we get. After working to learn and hone my artistic skills, I now paint mostly in the abstract expressionist style and enjoy working with textured art. My media of choice is acrylics or water-based oils.
