I created this piece while attending my junior year at college. The assignment was to create a still-life self portrait. I chose to include the dice because my middle name is Chance, which gives the painting a personal touch. The light bulb was there to represent my love for lamps, which appear in a lot of my other artwork. Lastly, I painted the hacky sack because I greatly enjoyed pulling it out of my pocket and playing with anyone, anywhere, anytime, and it also helped add to the composition.

My name is Kody Chance Urban. I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I received a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in Oil Painting from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. I love to experiment with other mediums, such as acrylic, watercolor, chalk pastels, and pen and ink. I would consider most of my art to fall under the category of surrealism, but I also enjoy branching out into other areas including still life and landscapes.
