A simple, calm background with thick, dramatic flowers. This is definitely a more modern, interpretative piece...almost like flowers you'd see in a dream state.
The vast majority of my artwork comes directly from photos I've taken. I think art is all about perspective, and I enjoy taking the photos I've collected and painting them in a way that defies their realism -- perhaps being more reflective of the emotion experienced while in that location/setting/situation. I try to create a balance of color harmony, while also eliciting an emotional response. When you look at my paintings, I want you to feel something or be transported somewhere.
I am a traveler at heart, and I try to spend as much time as possible reaching the far corners of the earth to be inspired by the awesome beauty that's out there. My paintings are a reflection of photos I've taken that capture my glimpse into "the other side." I aim for my artwork to reach and beg contemplation of the thin veil that connects this material world to the ethereal. Whether abstract or landscape, I aim for a sense and feeling of crossing over. I've painted my entire life and earned two master's degrees in psychology. I am self-taught, though I've dedicated as much time to studying art as I did to both degrees!
