Playfully referencing both "36 Views of Mt Fuji" by Katsushika Hokusai and the recently dubbed color-on-trend "Millennial Pink," this piece unites organic, free-flowing strokes with linear patterns and overlay, finely balancing somewhere between the natural beauty of Mt Fuji and the urban setting in which it was created.

Kimmy Quillin (b. 1983, Wisconsin) has been wearing glasses since the fourth grade. In 2006 she moved to New York, a busy city often more easily taken in without the crystalizing focus of corrective lenses. In 2008, she ran out of contacts and went for a year without seeing the world with 20/20 clarity. Her paintings echo this color field version of reality which she frequently still exists in by leaving her glasses or contacts at home.
