Ready to Hang
The VISTA Series is work based on my goal of more information, less detail, expressed in colorful abstract landscapes. This gorgeous landscape has been praised for the explosive color and motion. It is painted on a 1" cradled panel, the sides of which are unfinished light wood and it is ready to be displayed on a shelf or mantle or will hang nicely on the wall. It is coated with an archival varnish for protection. It is a very special painting.
My goal in all of my artwork is to deliberate the balance of representation and design, regardless of the subject. I am particularly moved by artists who are able to take abstraction further, offering more information with less detail. My work is not to depict, reconstruct or comment on social, natural or cultural reality. While I have great respect for those who do, I think my path has been towards the creation of studies of place and time using an acute understanding of design and color theory.
Creating makes me feel good about myself. A day of successful painting is it the best of days. It is a selfish endeavor. I wish for the viewer to arrive at a personal determination, framed in their own experiences and therefore, apart from reference, I prefer not to name my work. Hopefully, my appeal is positive.
"Instead of trying to reproduce exactly what I have before my eyes, I use color more arbitrarily, in order to express myself forcibly." -Van Gogh I am a full-time painter living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Surface Pattern Design from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I designed all things printed or woven, primarily wallpaper and fabric, which was followed by a career as an Interior Designer within two Cleveland, Ohio architecture firms. Painting is very important to me. Please visit my links to view more of my work, follow me- or contact me!. I would love to hear from you. In fact, it would make my day.
