My goal in all of my artwork is to deliberate the balance of representation and design, regardless of the subject. I am particularly moved by artists who are able to take abstraction further, offering more information with less detail. My work is not to depict, reconstruct or comment on social, natural or cultural reality. While I have great respect for those who do, I think my path has been towards the creation of studies of place and time using an acute understanding of design and color theory.
A day of successful painting is it the best of days. It is a selfish endeavor. I wish for the viewer to arrive at a personal determination, framed in their own experiences and therefore, apart from reference, I prefer not to name my work. Hopefully, my appeal is positive.
This is a lovely-faced figure in pretty tones. It is created with pencils and oil paint. It is in keeping with series goal of gestural figurative work. I enjoy drawing and the looseness that I can achieve by adding oil pencils. It is on Belgian linen and the sides are left unpainted, for a clean appearance. It is wired and includes wall hardware for immediate display. it is coated with archival varnish for protection.
"Instead of trying to reproduce exactly what I have before my eyes, I use color more arbitrarily, in order to express myself forcibly." -Van Gogh I am a full-time painter living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Surface Pattern Design from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I designed all things printed or woven, primarily wallpaper and fabric, which was followed by a career as an Interior Designer within two Cleveland, Ohio architecture firms. Painting is very important to me. Please visit my links to view more of my work, follow me- or contact me!. I would love to hear from you. In fact, it would make my day.
