My goal in all of my artwork is to deliberate the balance of representation and design, regardless of the subject. I am particularly moved by artists who are able to take abstraction further, offering more information with less detail. My work is not to depict, reconstruct or comment on social, natural or cultural reality. While I have great respect for those who do, I think my path has been towards the creation of studies of place and time using an acute understanding of design and color theory.
A day of successful painting is it the best of days. It is a selfish endeavor. I wish for the viewer to arrive at a personal determination, framed in their own experiences and therefore, apart from reference, I prefer not to name my work. Hopefully, my appeal is positive.
This is from my DUNES Series. It is a long-running series that has been well-received. I have sold all and DUNES XXXVIII is offered as a smaller scale, fresh piece created with both palette knife and brushes. The Series concept is that the eye makes a way to the water through the abstracted beach grass. Each painting in the series displays varying abstraction. This painting is on hand-stretched natural Belgian linen. The sides are left unpainted, for a clean edge. Depending on your decor, it does not necessarily need a frame. It will come wired along with wall hardware for immediate display. it is coated with archival varnish for protection. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
"Instead of trying to reproduce exactly what I have before my eyes, I use color more arbitrarily, in order to express myself forcibly." -Van Gogh I am a full-time painter living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Surface Pattern Design from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I designed all things printed or woven, primarily wallpaper and fabric, which was followed by a career as an Interior Designer within two Cleveland, Ohio architecture firms. Painting is very important to me. Please visit my links to view more of my work, follow me- or contact me!. I would love to hear from you. In fact, it would make my day.
