A hedonist setting. The gorgeous, deep-magenta french lilacs were cut from a neighbor's lilac bushes (with permission, of course!) I have a fondness for the depth of color of this species of lilac - a hue not often seen in our neck of the woods in NH. Paired with blackberries fresh from the vine and displayed among silver pieces, polished to a high shine for perfect reflection. I have a long-running fascination with reflection in silver, and refracted light through glass. Most of my works focuses on the light play of settings that provide a glimpse of the room/world beyond the canvas boundaries. The butterfly embroidered satin drape is not from my vintage fabrics collection, but from a bolt of fabric in a nearby JoAnn's. It was hard to pass up! I did have an art lover suggest that the 'real' butterflies didn't cast a shadow. I had to point out to him that they were embroidered in the satin. He loved the illusion!

My name is Kimberly Meuse. I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio.
