I began this piece by taping down the edges of a sheet of watercolor paper and soaking the page in clean water, allowing the water to pool naturally as the paper became wrinkled. Then, I dripped black india ink onto the surface from a dropper held about eighteen inches above the paper, allowing the ink to splash and bubble to create a random spray of differently sized droplets. The ink spread slowly in the standing water on the surface of the paper, and as the water dried, the ink soaked into the page, leaving hazy, watery, organic marks that resemble mold growing on the surface.
I started painting about seven years ago, and since then making art has taken over my life. In December 2016 I graduated from the University of Alabama with a BA in Printmaking and a minor in Art History. I have worked on murals and private commissions, and I'm always working on new projects.
