This abstract stripe piece is comprised of many layers and has lots of texture to it. It was inspired by the waves on the lake crashing up against stones. The sides are painted a light grey, so that it doesn't have to be framed and the back is signed so as not to distract from the composition.
Nature is a point of departure, where process, color, and form interact to create an evocative language within my paintings. Drawing with paint and tone informs the viewer of movement and vibrancy within a space. While methodical layering begins a conversation between still and active, past and present. Traveling is a large part of what inspires my work. Experiencing diverse landscapes and cultures shapes the way I view and interact with the world around me. A color, shape or texture observed during my travels may be the spring board for an entire series of work in which it is my goal to re imagine beauty within a memory.
