My work explores the association between emotional imagery and expressive portrait/figurative studies. I am in love with wrinkles which is why most of my pieces avoid the idea of any sense of smooth emotion. I try to illustrate the concept of the relationships created between the use of texture and the focal point of the painting. What starts out as a simple, meaningless image soon corrodes itself into a study on how the elements interact with one another; leaving a sense of chaos and the inevitability of a new understanding.
My process is equally as important as the portrait in my concentration. I begin with applying a thick level of texturized gels and collage followed up with jumping right into the main portrait itself. I then jot down the outline of the face to set my proportions up and immediately begin to fill in the blanks. With a chaotic and spontaneous style of line work (mainly charcoal) layered repeatedly, an expressive portrait with high contrasting values develops in its final stages.
The way a variety of continuous lines can merge together into an incredibly detailed portrait creates an exciting threshold of possibilities for my overall composition. My style of work emphasizes the importance of my process and how the use of different mediums interact with one another for the final production.

I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. I started getting a lot more serious around high school entering a few of my works into contests and little exhibitions. I was even lucky enough to have one of my pieces displayed in a gallery downtown and my picture taken for the city newspaper. I also had my first piece sold during that time and ever since then, I have considered myself a ‘working artist’. I am a Drawing and Painting major at the University of North Texas. Thanks to one of the exhibitions I took part in, I was offered to display one of my works in a lounge in Arlington for consignment. Currently I am a stay at home mom so my work towards an art degree has been paused. I have sold many works since high school and occasionally get commission requests. I have been told my work tends to revolve around more of a darker theme. I have a very expressive linear style which give a lot of energy towards my subject matter. Most of my portfolio consists of close-up portraits and animals from which I render through photographs. I also am drawn to bold colors and high contrast. I have so much more to learn and experiment with in terms of subject matter and mediums. With that being said, I do not have a specific art style yet and am willing to take on any challenge. I want everyone to find their own enjoyment out of my work just as much as I have by making it.
