Watercolor, Gouache, Pencil, Gold Leaf and 140 lb cold pressed watercolor paper. This work like most of my work was inspired by gender norms, body norms, gender roles, body power and what it means to be queer bodied and the armor we wear.
My name is Katie Kaapcke. I am a Vango artist. I am an inter- disciplinary artist and illustrator. My work primarily explores queerness while critiquing the archetypal models of gender, sexuality, fluidity and body presentation. I work with pen, ink, pencil, watercolor, gouache, collage, and paper. In my practice as a graphic storyteller, I use personal experience as a queer, genderqueer, visually female presenting, and aspiring androgyne, to carve out space for a marginalized voice. I want to preserve our stories for future generations. As a visual artist I seek to create my own magical, thought provoking, sexually fluid, wonderland with my paintings. Thank you for visiting my portfolio!
