Watercolor, gouache, pencil and 140 lb hot pressed watercolor paper mounted on wood box. My inspiration in creating this piece was acupressure, reflexology and the pieces of ourselves that make us unique. This piece was created as part of a show in San Francisco called Di-ssec-tion about uncovering the things underneath our skin that make us different and the same.
My name is Katie Kaapcke. I am a Vango artist. I am an inter- disciplinary artist and illustrator. My work primarily explores queerness while critiquing the archetypal models of gender, sexuality, fluidity and body presentation. I work with pen, ink, pencil, watercolor, gouache, collage, and paper. In my practice as a graphic storyteller, I use personal experience as a queer, genderqueer, visually female presenting, and aspiring androgyne, to carve out space for a marginalized voice. I want to preserve our stories for future generations. As a visual artist I seek to create my own magical, thought provoking, sexually fluid, wonderland with my paintings. Thank you for visiting my portfolio!
